Antonina Liggio, the daughter of Rosario Liggio and Carmela Piazza, is born in her parents' home on via Santa Rosalia in Corleone on 3 October 1849.[1]
Antonina marries Salvatore Ferrara, son of Matteo Ferrara and Santa Provenzano, on 7 February 1869 in Corleone.[2]
Antonina and Salvatore have at least four children: Maria Santa (c. 1870), Carmela (c. 1887), Maria Rosaria (c. 1889), and Marietta (c. 1891), all born in Italy.
Maria Santa is named after her paternal grandmother.

In the 1910 federal census of New York City, taken 18 April, Salvatore Ferrara, 64 (b. 1846), married for 42 years (m. 1868) to Antonina, 61 (b. 1849), head a household at 222 E. 107th St. with their daughter Marietta, 19 (b. 1891). Antonia has had 7 children, 5 living. All born in Italy, they emigrated in 1897. Marietta works as a cigar maker. Her parents are not employed.[4]
