Marriage notes: Sgt. Roy D. Light, son of Mrs. Alma E. Light of this city [Beecher City, Illinois] and Miss Theda Ann Davenport, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Davenport of Orville, California, were united in marriage at 2 o'clock Saturday, June 5, 1948 at Reno, Nevada. Rev. Brewster Adams of the First Baptist Church of Reno performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of the bride's immediate family. The bride was attired in a beautiful blue crepe dress with a white orchid corsage. The groom wore his Air Force uniform. After a short honeymoon in Reno, Sgt. Light returns to his station at McClellan Field and Mrs. Light to her work at the State Department office in Sacramento. They are at home to their many friends at 2401 "D" Street, Sacramento, California.
Interests: Roy Dean had several hobbies that included golfing, writing poems and short stories, and painting.
Roy D. Light, 86 yrs old, passed away on July 6, 2014 in Clarksville, Indiana at Kentuckiana Medical Center. He was a resident of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Roy was born in Beecher City, Illinois January 30, 1928. He went to school at Beecher City. He married Mollie on May 25, 1974 at St. Luke's in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He had worked several jobs during his career and served in the Air Force. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing and was an avid golfer.
Roy is preceded in death by: his mother and father, a sister Ronella Su (Shortie), his first wife, Theda Ann, and a son Gerald Dean.
Roy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mollie; sons Terry, David, Devin, Terry Schneider and Chris Cook; brothers Ray Jean and Larry Lee; sister Rosella Lu (Rosie); 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
