Emeline married John Henry Stibbs on 25 Oct 1837 in the Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Savannah, Georgia. They had four children: Henry Lightbourne, born 1838 in Savannah, GA (1838-1898), Clifford Wesley born 1841 in Savannah (1841-1857) Edwin M. born 1845 in Savannah (1845-1869) and Amelia born 1849 in Savannah.
Emeline Lighbourne Stibbs died in childbirth on April 14, 1849, and is buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery (lot 269) alongside her children Clifford and Edwin, and sister Ophelia Lightbourne Abbott.
