She was the daughter of Mary (Tanner) and William Ligon.^{[citation needed]} - Note: Dorman has her as the daughter of William and Mary (Tanner) Ligon's son William and his wife Elizabeth Batte.^[2]

Her husband Henry Ligon (Sr.) made his last Will on 12 Nov 1759 and he died about 1762 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. His ten slaves and other property had a value of £521:5:3.

In 1767 as the widowed head of household, she was charged with four tithe able slaves and 318 acres of land in Prince Edward County, Virginia.

Her husband's last Will was recorded on 14 Dec 1769.
