Giuseppa Ligotino is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Angelo Ligotino and Maria di Leo. Based on her reported age in the 1766 census, and at her death, Giuseppa is born around 1747. She is named after her maternal grandmother.
In the 1766 stato delle anime, a Church census, her family appears between the hospital and the vanella di Paolo Palazzo. Angelo Ligotino, 59 (b. 1707), his wife Maria, 51 (b. 1715), and their children Rev. Sac. Don Gaspare, 29 (b. 31 Oct 1738), Giuseppa, 19 (b. 1747), Santa, 12 (b. 1754), Gaetano, 10 (b. 1756), and Antonino, 4 (b. 1762).
Giuseppa marries Matteo Salemi on 9 June 1771. Her parents have died by this time.
Giuseppa and Matteo have at least four children: Maria (c. 1771), Biagio (1775), Francesco Paolo (1774), and Matteo (1778).
I have estimated that Maria is born the year after her parents marry.
Biagio is born and baptized 7 November 1775. His godparents are Don Carlo and Donna Caterina d'Anna, a married couple.[1]
Francesco Paolo is born and baptized 28 July 1774. His godparents are Maestro Vincenzo Sangiorgi and Lucia Porcarello.[2]
Matteo is born and baptized 20 June 1778, named after his father, who has died by this time. His godparents are Don Giovanni Crescimanna and Donna Maria Crescimanna, who are unmarried.[3]
Death of Giuseppa
Giuseppa dies at age 42 (b. 1747) on 8 August 1789.[4]
Maria marries Michaelangelo lo Cairo on 6 February 1790.
Biagio marries Lucia di Leonardo on 2 October 1796.
Biagio dies at age 52 on 10 February 1828. His wife survives him.
