Leonard Turley gives the death date as 1895, with her husband following a few weeks later. The tombstone transcription gives a date of 1897.
Note: History of Ten Mile Baptist Church 1804-1904, p15 in October 1895, Artie Turley 'was called home' to be followed a few weeks later by her husband. Her tombstone in the churchyard, however, bears the inscription that Artemesia Graves Lillard was born 8 June 1817 and died 27 October 1897. The two marriages of Artie are also listed on the stone.
Page: p. 296
Note: Lists 7 sons and 3 daughters ["names of daughters are not known"], No other information in this reference on Artie.
Bond, Gallatin KY, Marriage Records... . Boyd, Marriages, p108 lists Thomas Jefferson Turley m. Artie Lillard abt. 1830. There is no record of the event in Gallatin Co. but at the later date of 1841. Perhaps the Boyd reference to the 1830marriage pertained to Artemeisa's first marriage.
