In the records of the Hudson Bay Company, Daniel had several children with "a native woman." The native woman was a "half-breed" named Mary Richardson. It is unknown if they were married earlier in a native ceremony, but they were married in the Christian way 17 Dec 1840 St. John's Parish, Red River Settlement, Manitoba, Canada.

Research Notes

  • According to the original import, Daniel married Mary Ann in 1840 in Canada. If this is correct, then he would not be in the 1841, 1851, and 1861 England census in Essex. (especially since he died in 1858)
  • I think Daniel Lillie born in Suffolk, stayed in England and married Elizabeth Toudup.
  • Parents need to be removed from this profile and correct parents and birth information researched.
    • These parents, Sussanah May and John Lilley have now been removed. Susannah would have been 8 years old at the time of this Daniel's birth
  • On some trees, parents are listed as James Lillie and Ann Dale, but there are no sources listed.
  • Birth info on the Daniel Lillie born in Suffolk: Daniel Lillie was born on 9 Jul 1791 in Leavenheath, Suffolk, England, and was christened 5 days later on the 14th in Nayland, Suffolk. His parents were John Lilley ( - ) and Susanna May (1770 - ). Christening Record[1][2]

Lillie-189 and Lillie-149 appear to represent the same person because: Same emigrant to Canada. Dispute about parentage, incorrect parents for Lillie-149 have been disconnected. Parents for Lillie-189 are asserted but no evidence is given.
