Peder Bengtsson Lillie af Aspenäs was born on 20 Jul 1603 (or 20 Jun) in Aspenäs, Västra Götaland, Sweden. He was the son of Bengt Bryntesson Lillie af Aspenäs and his wife, Marina Kijl, daughter of Gullberg Commandant Peder Söffrinsson Kijl and Agneta Drake.

Peder was the Commandant of Peenemünde in Pomerania in 1630. He served with honour in Germany during the Thirty Years War and attended the Battle of Lützen where his younger brother was killed. He was a Lieutenant Colonel of the Västerbotten Regiment 1630-1635, then Lieutenant Colonel of a Dragoon Squadron from Västergötland in 1645. In 1645 he was part of the forces that expelled the Danes from the area including significant victories in Bohuslän. He was the Commandant of Älvsborg at the end of 1645, Slottshauptman in Gothenburg in 1646 and the Governor of Älvsborg Castle in 1656.
Peder married Maria Amia von Lepel, from a noble family of Mecklenburg, Germany.

Peder died 3 Dec 1659 at Älvsborg and is buried in Angered's church in Västergötland. His wife died after him, but before 4 Aug 1665.
