Biography

1776 Project
Private Jeremiah Lincoln served with Suffolk County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

Jeremiah Lincoln is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A070429.

Jeremiah, son of Josiah and Susanna (Lincoln) Lincoln, was born at Hingham, MA on October 28, 1733.[1]

Jeremiah married Apr. 3, 1760, Sarah Hersey, daughter of Noah and Alice (Mitchell) Hersey.[1]

Jeremiah was taken prisoner at the capitulation of Fort William Henry (1757), and carried to Canada, but escaped and returned to Hingham.[1]

Jeremiah was Constable from 1777 to 1782 and again in 1784.[1]

He also held the commission of lieutenant.[1]

He resided on South, near West Street in Hingham, but late in life sold his homestead to Dr. Levi Lincoln, and removed with his family to Lunenburg, Massachusetts.[1]

He died in 1803. He is buried in South Cemetery in Lunenburg.[2]
