Alexander and his brother have had conflated profiles. I believe I finally understand how Crawfurd, whom everyone seems to have copied, had been confused as the Latin word 'nepoti' can mean either 'nephew' or 'grandson' but looking at the circumstances, it is clear that it is the latter. In any case, I had already created a new profile for David's son George when I discovered this profile, which, at the time, was also named George. As David Lindsay only had one son named George and as the father of John Lindsay of Blacksholm was Alexander, I changed the given name to Alexander on this profile and moved the wife to the other profile still named George.
