John Blair Lindsay was born on 31 Oct 1896 in Scotland, United Kingdom. ^[1] His parents were James and Madeline Lindsay.^[2]

His family immigrated to America in either 1904 or 1905 and settled in Export, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania where his father was employed as a coal miner. ^[3]

In the 1920 census, John is 23 years old and he is now working as a time keeper in a coal mine. ^[4] In July 1920, John married Nelle Edith Smith.

John and Nelle had the following children:
