William O. Line Taken By Death
Was Former Sheriff of Union County
William O. Line, 77 former Union county sheriff and town marshal, died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Stevens, following an illness of several years.
Mr. Line had also served as night watchman in Liberty. He was connected with J. I. Case Farm Implement Co., of Indianapolis, for 40 years as the Union county dealer.
Mr. Line was a member of the Odd Fellows, Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges. He was an active worker in the Democratic party.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Line; 2 daughters, Mrs. Stevens, of near Liberty, and Mrs. Marie Bryant, of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren, Marcelline and Betsy Stevens and Genevieve Bryant; and a brother Emmet Line. His eldest daughter preceeded him in death at the age of 18 months.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon by Dr. Walter H. Reynolds at the Stevens home. Roy Benham sang. He was accompanied by Mrs. Benham. Burial was in West Point cemetery, with the Masonic and K. of P. lodges conducting graveside services.
