Hannah (Ling) Miller was born about 1804 and was baptized on 14 Jul 1804 in Manningtree, Essex, England, United Kingdom, daughter of James Ling (1768 - <1853) and Jemima (Skinner) Ling (1776 - 1836).[1]
On 21 July 1819, Hannah Ling (aged 15 years) was committed to Woodbridge Gaol for 14 days on the order of John Fitzgerald and W. Carthew esqs.
Her crime according to the Woodbridge Gaol Book was that "Upon the oath of Fenn Shemming of Rendlesham in this county, Farmer, that Hannah Ling an apprentice of the said Fenn Shemming hath been guilty of divers misdemeanors against her said master and particularly in refusing to go to church on Sunday last when ordered so to do and running away from her said master and her apprenticeship."
In prison Hannah was employed in "mending stockings" and her behaviour was said to be "decent".
Hannah was discharged from Woodbridge Gaol on 4 August 1819 with an added note in the record book that "She being detained one day after her time had elapsed on a suspicion of theft by her master."

Hannah (21) married John Miller (~21) (~1804 - 1893) on 10 Oct 1825 in Eyke, Suffolk.[2]
In the 1841 census Hannah (age 37) was in Eyke, Suffolk, England.[3]
In the 1851 census Hannah (age 46) was the wife of John Miller in Eyke, Suffolk, England.[4]
Hannah died on 30 Dec 1852 in Eyke aged 48. She was buried on 4 January 1853 in Eyke, Suffolk, England.[5]
