It is a village and a civil parish about 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of Ashford. Bethersden was known for its marble and the Kentish wool trade. The church is St Margaret's.

John Link Jr married Kezia Ramsley August 12, 1764 in Doddington, Kent, England.

John and Kezia had a son called John, who was born in Bethersden about 1767. There may be more children, but John is the only one mentioned.

John Link Sr died about 1803 and was most likely buried in Bethersden.
