In the 1980s and 1990s, I (along with many others) had the honor of helping Hugh's nephew Roger Bower Linn with his book "The Clan Linn in the Twentieth Century". I've just added WikiTree profiles for Roger and his wife, Bobbi.
Like you, I would like nothing more than to make the connection between our Linns in Ireland and their forebears in Scotland. The sad truth is that surviving Irish genealogical records are a mere fraction of what they once were. A 1922 court house bombing destroyed most of the pre-1800 record, and nothing now exists that would positively identify our most recent Scottish Linn ancestor. I believe, however, that what does survive suggests a connection to the Lynns who lived in Ayrshire, Scotland from the 13th century to about 1600. I would like very much to share things with you. I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site
