IVAH ANZEY LINN, daughter of Hugh R. and Mariah (Thomas) Linn, was born Feb. 19, 1870, at Benton's Ferry. She married Louis C. Scranage, son of John and Marinda (Clelland) Scranage, Oct. 25, 1893, at the home of Rev. Gideon Martin, who officiated. Louis Scranage after his marriage was engaged in the mercantile business in partnership with James R. Linn at Benton's Ferry. Severing his connection with this business he traveled for a Wholesale Grocery firm of Grafton. He served as a deputy sheriff under the administration of H. R. Linn. He had been elected cashier of a bank at Fairview, W. Va., but before he began his work he was stricken with typhoid fever and died July 29, 1899. He was a member of the M. E. Church South. Ivah A. Scranage is a member of the M. E. Church and held the position of Mother to Girls in the sorority at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon, until the new Agnes Howard Hall was finished, and the girls transferred to the Hall. She has since had charge of the girls on third floor. Louis and lvah Scranage had one child, Elinore. She died at birth. She brought up her sister Nina Linn from the age of 11 years, and also the son of her sister Nina from 3 years of age. She makes her home with her sister Nina whom she brought up, when not employed.
