Biography

James Linn, son of John Linn and Catherine (Gosling) Linn, was born on 29 July 1856 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire.[1][2]

He married Jane Weir on 14 December 1877 at 27 Belleville Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire. He was an engineer (journeyman) living at 34 Crescent Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire. [3] They had a daughter, Margaret Whitelaw LINN, b.1878.

He appears in the following census years -

  • 1861 at 103 Dale Street, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.[4]
  • 1871 at 34 Crescent Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire where he was a railway guard clark.[5]
  • 1881 at 65 Velville Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire where he was an engine fitter.[6]

He died on 8 February 1915 at Greenock, Renfrewshire, age 58 years. At the time, he was an engineer living at 18 Grant Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire.[7][8]
