An old resident of Glenelg, in the person of Mr. Robert Cole Linton, died this week, after an illness extending over some weeks.
The deceased gentleman was born at Marylebone, Middlesex, England 61 years ago, and came to Glenelg when three years old, thus residing in this town for 58 years. For 35 years he conducted a business as contractor.
In his younger days he was a swimmer of note, winning a cup for the chief swimming race held at the opening of the Glenelg Baths on March 11, 1876; in the same year he won the championship of South Australia.

A widow, three sons, three daughters, and 10 grandchildren are left to mourn his loss. One son, Len, is fighting at the front.
The funeral took place on Tuesday and was largely attended.[4]
