Biography

Birth

Henry Lippincott was born in 1806 to Samuel Lippincott and Elizabeth Morgan. [1]

Marriage and Children

Henry married Semiramus Wood, daughter of Christoher Wood and Mary A. Turner, on 6 November 1831 in Allen County, Ohio.[1]

Henry and Semiramus had the following children:

  1. Mary Jane Lippincott b 1832; m Rev. David Scott[1]
  2. Henrietta Lippincott b 1836; m 1) Henry C. Scott 2) Joseph Swisher[1]

Death

Henry Lippincott died in 1836 in Allen County, Ohio.[1]

A Custody Battle

After the death of Henry, his mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Morgan) Lippincott filed suit over the custody of Mary Jane and Henrietta. On 3 May 1838, the judge appointed the maternal grandfather, Christopher Wood as guardian. The suit was filed against their mother, Semiramus, the girls, Henry's brother, Samuel B. Lippincott and Henry's brother-in-law William Scott.[1][2]
