On 18 Dec 1783, he married Sarah "Sally" Smith in Louisa County, Virginia.[4][5]

John Lipscombe passed away on 27 Oct 1827 in Spartanburg District, South Carolina.[1] He was buried in John Lipscomb Family Cemetery, Goucher, Cherokee County, South Carolina.[7]
