Biography

Alfred Litchfield is an Anzac who served in World War One.
Alfred Litchfield was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Alfred was the third child born to William Litchfield and Hannah Clarke[1] . His first Wife Alice Harriet[2]. died at the age of 28, leaving him with 3 young children. He subsequently married her sister Mary Ann[3] with whom he had 4 more children.
He enlisted in WW1 with his sons Howard & Charles[4]
He worked as a slaughter man, or butcher. the family lived on a farm at Findon, which is now suburban housing.
A letter from his sister Selina describes him as being a broken man after his war service, He died in 1938 at the age of 68[5]
