Biography

George was 2nd. child of George and Ann Graham and had 3 siblings, Mary c.1833, Thomas c1835 and Ann c 1837. He was christened at Lanercost, Cumberland 31 October 1834. His mother Ann died in 1841. He and his younger sibs. are on the 1841 census with their paternal grandparents, Thomas & Mary. His father and older sister Mary in 1841 were with his maternal grandfather George Graham. In the 1851 census he and his younger sibs. are with their unmarried uncle James Little and aunt Grace Little. Unable to find his father or sister Mary on 1851 census. The 1861 census finds him and brother Thomas with their remarried father in Burradon near Alwinton Northumberland, with 5 new half sibs. for George. 5 years later George married Elizabeth Patterson in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The marriage certificate describes his father as a gamekeeper. His age 28 which is only 2 years more than he was in 1861.
