Carrie (Lucy) was born in 1873. Her mother was Rain Walking Woman, also known as Mary Littlebear, wife of Littlebear.
Name
Her Hocąk name WaWaHasMonEWinKah (1911 census) is for Wawahasmąnįwįga, "She Chases Them Away as She Walks," which is from, wa-, "them"; wahás, "to chase away"; mąnį́, "to walk, she walks"; -wį-, a feminine gender infix; -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. Given her father's name, it is safe to say that she was a member of the Bear Clan.
