Obit from LA Times Also in my possession - means she moved with Merrymans to LA in 1883.
1970 CORRESPONDENCE: letter to Robert Littlefield dated 19 Jan 1970 from Mr. Harry Littlefield, 2149 E. Birchfield Ave, Mesa Ar 85204 (Harry was born in 1888 so probably deceased at this input date in 1990) that I found in my dad's possessions after he died.
"... What I know I have learned from other members of the family, none of whom has made a study of the family tree that I know of, ... I have no authetic data to prove these statements.
Dad (Joseph) was married after the Civil Was and to this union was born 5 children : Louis, Warren, Clarence your grandfather, Clara, and a baby daughter WHO WAS ADOPTED BY A WAR BUDDY AND HIS WIFE NAMED MERRIMAN, WHO MOVED TO CALIFORNIA IN THE EARLY DAYS AND SHE AFTERWARDS MARRIED A MAN NAMED MOREHOUSE, WHO WAS A BANKER AND FINANCIAL ADVISOR TO PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT...
Joseph and his family moved to Nebraska via covered wagon in 1877 where he filed on a 160 acre homestead, a tree claim, and had a preemption of a number of acres. I don't know when he lost his first wife but in 1885 or 1886 he married Charlotte Roberts, who was my mother. She died about 10 years ago at the age of 93 years. To this union six children were born of whom I am the oldest, being born in 1888. Frank, Verna, Hazel, Josephine, Robert were the other children of whom Verna, Hazel, Josephine and myself are still living; Robert was killed on a rotary drilling rig in 1935 leaving 3 sons and a daughter who are the only descendant of my branch of the family.
I consider the Littlefields a poineering family as my Mother's people settled at Plattsmouth, NE about Civil War time and she used to say that the Roberts family settled up Eastern Nebraska..."
1991 Corre from Maude Littlefield: 10 June- "He also had 2 sisters Helen Moorehouse in LA..."
1991 Corr from Wilma Rediger PO Box 262 Goodfield Ill " Helen died in 1881 the year Abigail was born (doesn't connect with census info). I remeber my mother (verna) saying that friends of the family took baby Abigail to riase. They wanted to adopt her but Joseph would not give her for adoption. Abigail was born in Jan and they had moved - no doubt by covered wagon in Sept - Helen would have been 5 months pregnant at least." These dates are not correct but the family history regarding what happened to Abigail is. My research indicates she was 6 months old when Helen died.
seems like she may have been born in 1879

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Helen by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Helen:
Littlefield-989 and Littlefield-552 appear to represent the same person because: these are the same person, one is the "adoptive" parents...one the birth - I will unlink the adoptive parents
