On 19 April 1993 his first cousin Kevin, called him to join the "Backstreet Boys" and he was the last to join the boy group. Due to little success, at first, in the United States, Lou Pearlman marketed the boys in Europe. They became commercially successful in 1995 and they later came to the USA. After a three year gap, they released Never Gone, Unbreakable, This is Us, and In a World Like This.
In 1997, Brian was instrumental in bringing a lawsuit against the group's managers Lou Pearlman and Trans Continental. The claim was that Pearlman had not been truthful about the earnings made by the group. In the following year, A. J. Mclean, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough joined the lawsuit. Settlements were made but details were not disclosed.
Brian Littrell married on 02 September 2000 at Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, USA to model/actress, Leighanne Wallace. Their son, Baylee Littrell, was born in 2002 and he has become a country singer.
Brian had wanted to record Christian music for a long time. His first solo album, Welcome Home, was released on 02 May 2006.
In October 2009, Brian was infected with the H1N1 swine virus which caused the cancellation of the Backstreet Boys This is Us promotional tour.
