Jacob Lietzau was born as the son of Gabriël Litzau and Maria de Hemelin. Within the Dutch sources, I've found that he was born in Schwarzwald. A place within Prussian Pommern. Together with a historian, we've been searching where Schwarzwald must have been and we discovered it must be Czarnylas (former: Schwarzwald). Nowadays this place can be found in Poland. Jacob Lietse married with Maria van der Heden in 1766. Together they had children:

  • Maria Litzau (abt.1765-1853) married to Teunis van den Bos (abt.1766-)
  • Johannes Litzau (1769 - 1837) married to Barbara Heus and Maria Margaretha Färber.
  • Jacob Litzau (±1770 - 1842) married to Maria Roos.
  • David Litzau (±1771 - 1831) married to Anna Margaretha Blacquière.
  • Dijliana Luse (1775 - ?)
  • Willemijna Litse (1777 - ?)
  • Catrina Lusé (1779 - ?)
  • Kristiana Litzau (1782 - ?)

Migration to the Netherlands

Assuming he was born in 1733 in Pommern and was married in Rotterdam by 1766, he must have migrated somewhere between these years. That is why I went in search of events between 1733 - 1766, which may have caused Jacob Litzau to emigrate to the Netherlands. The most obvious event would be the Pommerian War. The term 'Pommerian War' is used to describe the fighting between Sweden and Prussia between 1757 and 1762 in Swedish Pomerania, Prussian Pomerania, northern Brandenburg and eastern Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

On the 13th of September 1757, Swedish troops invaded Prussian Pommern. The main reason for this invasion was that Sweden wanted the land back that it had lost in 1720. [2]

It's not known if this was the reason, but it could be the most obvious one.

Death

He passed away in 1814 at the age of 80 years and 10 months.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jacob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jacob:
