Carl Wesley Livesay was born on Jan. 15, 1897 to Thomas W. and Mina Livesay in Piasa, Illinois and lived near there until 1905 when they moved to Cathay, North Dakota.[1]
Carl entered the U. S. Army on May 15, 1918 and was sent to Camp Lewis for his initial training before he was transferred to Camp Kerney.[2]
On Aug. 25th, he arrived overseas and almost immediately saw action with Company M, 110th Infantry in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. He was n active duty in the front lines until Oct. 4th when he was wounded by shrapnel and take to Base Hospital 66. On Dec. 11th, he was received onboard the USS Manchuria for return to the United States, but complications set in and he died onboard the ship. Arriving in the USA, his body was shipped to his parents at Fessenden, North Dakota. His remains were then laid to rest beside a baby sister at the Piasa Cemetery in Piasa, Illinois.[3][4]
