James Lloyd was born in about 1789 in Lancashire.

James married Mary Birchall on 22 Dec 1811 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish, and neither had been married before; James was a watch hinge maker. The witnesses were Ann Howard and Robert Lawton.

Their son James was born on 5 Oct 1812, and christened on 4 Nov 1812 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as watchmaker, and the family's address as Rainhill.

Their daughter Mary was christened on 16 Jul 1815 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as watchmaker, and the family's address as Rainhill.

Their son Thomas was christened on 23 Nov 1817 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as watchmaker, and the family's address as Rainhill.
