John Loake was born in Rothwell, Northamptonshire, England.

John was born about 1817 and baptised on 28th September 1817 in Rothwell, Northamptonshire, England. He was the son of Thomas Loake and Elizabeth Timpson.^[1]

He married Hannah Cleaver in 1850, the marriage was registered in the June quarter in Kettering, Northamptonshire.^[2]

Together they had four children:

  Mary Ann born 1852 in Kettering

  John born 1856 in Kettering

  William Frederick born 1858 in Kettering

His three sons founded Loake Brothers' Shoemakers in 1880 and John was employed as a warehouseman at the sons' business. ^[3]
