Mary (Lock) Brake was born in Somerset, England.
Mary Ann Lock was born before 1822 and was christened on 22 June 1822 in Curry Rivel, Somerset, England. [1] Her parents are William Lock (a Farmer) and Sarah (Smith) Lock.
Mary Ann Lock married Jonathan Lockyer Brake (a Blacksmith) in Curry Rivel, Somerset, England on 15 October 1843. [2] [3] Together they had three sons:
- George Brake born 1843;
- William Brake born 1845; and
- David Brake born 1847.
Mary Ann, Jonathan (a Blacksmith aged 26), and their sons George, William and David migrated to America from Bristol aboard the Cosmo, and arrived in New York on 24 May 1848. [4]
Some time between 1848 and 1855, Mary Ann Brake either passed away (in the United States or back in England) or she was divorced from her husband, as he remarried in 1855 in the United States.
