Additional Data

Mr. George Parsons Lock.
WORSHIPFUL MASTER OF THE SEDGWICK
LODGE OF FREEMASONS, No. 125, WICKHAM.
Mr. George Parsons Lock, Worshipful Master of the Sedgwick Lodge of Freemasons, Wickham, was born at Stonehouse, Devonshire, (England), on August 6, 1861. In the year 1864 he came to this colony with his parents, who settled in the district of Newcastle. Ho was educated there with the view of qualifying for the position of public school teacher; but, having shown a disinclination for that profession, he was apprenticed to the trade of a monumental mason. After completing his indentures, ho entered into business on his own account in the year 1882, in the city of Newcastle, where his career has been marked with considerable success. In 1882 he married the only daughter of the late Mr. James Wise. Mr. Lock was initiated in 1884 into the mysteries and privileges of Freemasonry, in the Sedgwick Lodge, which was at that time working under the Scottish Constitution. From the first he took an active interest, not only in the affairs of His mother lodge, but in the Order generally ; and, after filling creditably several minor offices, he was elected in 1888 Worshipful Master, being at that time the youngest Mason occupying such a position in the northern district. To show how popular Mr. Lock is in the lodge over which he presides, it may be mentioned that he was re elected Worshipful Master this year. Mr. Lock has received the Mark and Royal Arch degrees, and is now the Second Principal of the Jubilee Royal Arch, Chapter 214, S.C., of the Newcastle district.
