Joseph Locke was born on April 23, 1729, in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts [1].
He was a Captain of a company of Minute men that marched to Cambridge after the battle of Lexington in the American Revolution. In the Army, he rose to the rank of Major, served during the war, and died "on his return within forty miles of home of the camp fever."[2]
