In the 1861 Scotland Census David is said to be 19 years old and employed as a Ploughman. He resides with his parents and siblings at Rhodes Farm, North Berwick[3].
David married Catherine Forsyth (1842 - 1919) the daughter of Alexander Forsyth and Ann Taylor on 25 August 1865 at Yester, Haddingtonshire[4].
In the 1881 Scotland Census David was said to be 39 years old and employed as an Agricultural Labourer. He resides with his wife and children at the Old Iron Works, Gladsmuir, Haddingtonshire[5].
In the 1891 Scotland Census David was said to be 49 years old and employed as a Farm Servant. He resides with his wife and children at Penston Hind's House, Gladsmuir[6].
In the 1901 Scotland Census David was said to be 60 years old and employed as a Farm Steward. He resides with his wife and children at Coats Farm Cottage, Gladsmuir[7].
David died in 1909 at Gladsmuir, Haddingtonshire at the age of 68 years[8].
