Biography

born Robert Spencer Lockhart, but that he didn't like the name Spencer so he changed it to Jasper. Guess I should check that out... But for now this shall have to suffice! I did find an obit for him dated 12 Dec 1973, not sure what paper:

Robert J. Lockhart - Formerly of the Hamilton area, Robert J. Lockhart, 61, of Defiance, Ohio, died at noon Monday in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient eight weeks.

A resident of Defiance the past 25 years, Lockhart was born in Smithfield Township, DeKalb County, October 15, 1912, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lockhart. He was employed at the General Motors Foundry in Defiance as a molder.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Wendell (Shirley) Gilbert, Route 4, Angola; Mrs. Ben (Suzanne) Bean, Santee, California; and Robert Wesley who is stationed with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii; two sisters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Conrad, Route 1, Ashley, and Mrs. Dawson (Edna) Quaintance, Auburn, and 12 grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Lockhart was a member of the Moose Lodge in Defiance. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Swift Funeral Home in Hamilton, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Reverend Russel Tague will officiate at the rites with Marple Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, DeKalb County.
