Benjamin Lockhart was born in 1838 in Tazewell, Virginia, United States to the parents of John Henry Lockhart II and Eleanor Gray (Bowling) Lockhart with eleven (11) siblings.[1]
Benjamin had a child, James Lockhart, with Polly Ann Whitt on December 1861 in Waters of Plum Creek, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[2]
Benjamin joined the Civil War as a Private for the Confederacy. He was part of the 16th Regiment: Caldwell's Battalion, Virginia Cavalry, Company C.[3]
Benjamin was also part of the 47th Battalion, Cavalry AND Caldwell's Battalion.[4]
Benjamin died as a prisoner of war in a Union Camp on January 3, 1865 at Camp Chase, Franklin, Ohio, United States.[5][6]
Benjamin is buried at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, USA PLOT row 20 - 29 grave# 699.[7]
