1840 residence Wood County, VA (now WV); 1850 residence District 70, Wirt County, VA (now WV)

He taught school for some time; was one of the leaders in the formation of Wirt County, a Justice of the Peace for the new county and afterwards clerk of the circuit court.

He is buried in the Beauchamp-Newman Cemetery, Elizabeth, Wirt County, WV.

Wm. E. Lockart, Esq., Clerk of the Circuit court of Wirt County, died on the night of Sunday, the 18th inst. Mr. Lockhart was a very deserving and popular man, and the citizens of his county will find it difficult to fill the station made vacant by his death.

William and Louisa also had another daughter who died young and was buried in the Beauchamp Cemetery, Elizabeth, Wirt County, WV.
