Ephraim, son of Joseph and Mary (Weed) Lockwood of Norwalk, was born on 23 August 1708, their first child.[1]
Ephraim married Thankful Grummon, daughter of John Grummon of Fairfield, on 30 October 1734, on record in Norwalk,[2] though it is possible the marriage took place in Fairfield, where her parents lived.
Ephraim and Thankful were residents of Canaan Parish of Norwalk, later set off as part of the Town of New Canaan. They were admitted to the church at Canaan as members in full communion on 30 May 1736.[3]
Children of Ephraim and Thankful (Grummon) Lockwood:

Nehemiah Lockwood, b. 18 May 1740, bap. 25 May 1740.[2][5]
Mary Lockwood, b. 3 Mary 1741/2, bap. 4 April 1742.[2][6]
Hannah Lockwood, bap. 8 June 1755; d. 28 May 1773.[12][13]
Ephraim Lockwood of Norwalk executed his last will on 16 August 1783, witnessed by Sam Kellogg, John Husted and Sam C. Silliman, nominating his sons Ephraim and Samuel Lockwood as executors, and making bequests:[14]

Ephraim Lockwood died 18 February 1786, in the 78th year of his age, per his gravestone at the Parade Ground, or Parade Hill Cemetery, in the present Town of New Canaan.[15]
On 14 March 1786, the following heirs acknowledged receipt from Ephraim and Samuel Lockwood, executors, "each of us our equal proportion of the estate of Ephraim Lockwood, late of Norwalk, dec'd, agreeable to the will... except in the household furniture given to the widow during her natural life":[16]

The notoriously misinformative Descendants of Robert Lockwood..., by Holden and Lockwood. inexplicably asserts that Ephraim's daughter Sarah married one Joseph Stevens and by him had a family of seven children,[17]
but Ephraim's probate record makes clear that his daughter Sarah died the wife or widow of someone named Waring or Warin, and that her only heirs were Ephraim Warin[g] and Elizabeth, wife of David St. John.
The estate of Thomas Waring, late of Norwalk, was distributed on 29 March 1764 to his widow and children Elias, Ephraim and Elizabeth.[18]
Elias must either have died before Ephraim Lockwood executed his will in 1783, or have been a son of Thomas' by a previous marriage. Hulda Warin[g], of the 1786 receipt, was the wife of Ephraim Waring.[19]
