Biography

Lewis was born in 1740 and participated in the American Revolution. Because his spouse was Barbadian, it is reasonable to suspect he also was, and both Lodge and Lewis families may be found in Babadian church records. However, Barbados struggled as a colony, with a staggering death rate. Lodges as such vanish from church records prior to Lewis's birth and when the surname reappears in later generations it does so as Lowgy.

Alternate Spouse: Mary Ruddick

Research Note

Could this be mom? Only record of a Lewis marrying a Lodge and it's in the right time frame:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "International Genealogical Index (IGI)," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:1:MLW6-6B3 : accessed 7 September 2018), entry for Martha Lodge, batch A22949-7; submitter not specified. To find the source, see "IGI Batch Number Descriptions" in the FamilySearch Wiki.

Could he have died and she reverted to her maiden name? Or if Francis Lodge is the father, might he have for one reason or another named his child after her?

There were Lodges in New Jersey and because some of them migrated to Delaware it seems reasonable to conclude they we're Quakers and Lewis may be either a Quaker himself or a descendant of Quakers who took the next step of migrating to the Carolina colony, which developed later than South Carolina.

The name Lewis Lodge appears in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area later, as if scions of both Lewis and Lodge families intermarried in a union we do not currently have a record of.

Possibly descended from Lewis-31822.

Parents: Francis Lodge Possible brother: Francis Lodge-1102

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Lewis by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Lewis:
