The family migrated to Johnson County, Missouri. His sister, Jane and her husband, John Beattie Dysart, migrated to Andrew County, Missouri, with John's brother, Wm. Logan Dysart, in 1849.

Research Notes

  • This William Logan has been confused with another man of the same name, Logan-6289, who married first to Anne Ryan, producing at least nine children and second to Molly Fisher with no issue.
  • Some researchers believe that this man was the William Logan who married Betsey Briggs, daughter of Mary Logan and Samuel Briggs.
  • This contributor tends to dismiss this belief:
A Betsey Briggs (born Elizabeth Logan Briggs) by all available records died unmarried. Her Find A Grave Memorial 93628626 contains a list of residents of the Huffman household from the 1850 census. Her niece, Martha Logan Huffman, died prior to this census leaving quite a few children. Elizabeth is 80 at this time, and died the next year. It seems she lived in the Huffman home possibly to care for the children. At the time the Lincoln families were quite close with many marriages from both the two major Logan lines (David and William).

Martha Huffman was the daughter of Mary Logan (daughter of Jane McKinley and David Logan) who married Samuel Briggs — lcsmith [citation needed]

As a member of the US Black Heritage Project, I have added a list of the slaves owned by William Logan on this profile with categories using the standards of the US Black Heritage Exchange Program. This helps us connect enslaved ancestors to their descendants. See the Heritage Exchange Portal for more information.
Logan-6289 and Logan-2508 do not represent the same person because: This merge proposal has been rejected so I will delete Logan-6289. All relevant information has been transferred to Logan-2508.

Hi Laura, thanks for getting back regarding this proposed merge and for looking at the issue. To clarify, if the profiles represent the same person, they need to be merged - Help:Merging. I'll repropose the merge. If you or Bill think that they are different people, please add sources to Logan-6289. Thanks again. Gillian

I think these are two different men with their different wives added to one profile. The same data has been used for both men because there is little known about one of them. At this time I believe that Ann Ryan married a different man, whose children are not connected to these profiles.

Logan-6289 and Logan-2508 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same wife. Similar birth details. Thanks for reviewing.

Logan-6289 and Logan-2508 are not ready to be merged because: I think that these are probably blended profiles for two different men and their children and should not be merged, but placed in different family trees. I will proceed on that basis.
