He was the eldest son.
He married Martha McAdam in 1779 and they had nine children.
In 1782 he moved his family from Knochshinnoch to Laight.
He became a friend of the poet Robbie Burns.
After his father's death in 1790 he became "Logan of Knockshinnoch".
He most likely died in Laight where he lived from 1782.
