Samuel was born 1795 in Butler County, Ohio. Though it should be noted how there are many conflicted sources. His son Thomas indicated his birth location was Kentucky in the 1900 census. His other son William said it was Ireland in that same census. This assertion is made in the book “History of Harrison County 1891”. Bill Yates, the genealogist behind Ancestry’s “U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900” believes it’s Ohio. DNA indicated Samuel‘s strong connection with his father, Patrick Logan, who was an Irish man living in Pennsylvania in 1795.
Samuel married Zena Biggs in Ohio in 1817 and was living with her in Columbia, Indiana in the 1820 census. After she died in 1827, he married Sarah Snodgrass that same year. They were living in Fayette, Indiana in 1830. He worked as a businessman.
Though he lived in Fayette in 1833, he died in Cincinnati in 1834 from the cholera epidemic. [1]
