Thomas died in 1874, his death registered at Raymond Terrace[5].

He died in a house fire at the Parading Ground locality near Raymond Terrace[6]
PARADING GROUND.
DEATH FROM BURNING -It is with feelings of deep regret we record this sudden and calamitous event. Between the hours of five and six on Saturday evening last a youth named Edward White, of the Parading Ground, was passing the residence of Mr Thomas Logan, of Telligherry, situate at about three-quarters of a mile from his (White's) parents' residence, when his attention was arrested by seeing Mr Logan's horse tied up in front of the house to the fence, and the house on fire, also the grass and underwood, near the house, in a running fire. He with the assistance of Mr John McIntosh, proceeded first to extinguish the running fire, and then gave their attention to the burning house. The first object they descried was the deceased, Mr Thomas Logan, lying burning in the passage of the house, the fire had such hold in the house that all efforts were unavailing for its extinguishment, the position the deceased was found in was described as " lying at full length on the floor " The appearance that the deceased presented was such that it could hardly be recognised as belonging to humanity, only the charred trunk remaining; the skull nowhere to be found. It was stated to have been seen by the witnesses partially consumed, but is supposed since to have smouldered into dust and ashes. One of the witnesses, Mr Joseph Russell, states that he thinks not more than twenty minutes could have elapsed from the time of his parting with the deceased, in good health and spirits, and the finding of his remains as described. It appears the deceased had been temporarily absent from home, and returned, thus accounting for his horse being tied at the fence, saddled, The deceased was between sixty and seventy years of age, and of vigorous health, of very active habits, and very temperate. Mr Russell says he (Mr. Logan) was perfectly sober, and cheerful, when he left him. The site of his house is about three quarters of a mile from his nearest neighbour. The deceased was in excellent circumstances, but has lived entirely by himself for several years past, his wife and his married sons and daughter living in Queensland. He was on good and friendly terms with his neighbours, by whom he was respected. Singular to say, he had a presentiment that he would meet with an untimely death, which has been unfortunately realised. He communicated this to two of his friends, living at Raymond Terrace, some little time ago, but they treated this as a lowness of spirits arising from domestic causes, and his isolated mode of life. Nothing remains of the house now but two posts and the brick chimney. Mr Logan's hat, coat, watch, and chain, and spectacles, and 12s. in silver, and 2d. in coppers, were found outside the house in front. An inquest was held on the remains, before W. E. Shaw, Esq., the coroner, and a jury of five, on Sunday, 27th, at the house of Mr. John Slade, Parading Ground. Dr. A. West viewed the remains. In accordance with the foregoing particulars after the examination of several witnesses, the jury were of opinion that the deceased, returning home, had found his house burning, and thereby met his death - but by what means the fire occurred there was no evidence to show. Verdict, accidentally burned. Senior-constable Warren and constable McCullum were in attendance. Raymond Terrace, Dec. 28.

His remains are buried in Pioneer Hill Cemetery, Raymond Terrace[7].
