Research to establish the relationship and possible connection between the Buffington and Logan families. Until records can be found to prove a relationship. Elizabeth Logan wife of Joel Buffington is related to the James Logan, Secretary of William Penn, family. This is not a direct line relationship, as far as I can tell. The name Buffington was originally Boveington (Bavington and Bevington are other spellings. This has been verified by Cal Buffington, through his daughter who lives in England and has seen the record of Richard Boveington at the All Saints Church Buckinghamshire, England. Connections: 1. The will of Sarah Portsmouth Logan. WILL: 05 JUL 1769 Saint James, Westminster, London, England Marriage to William Logan. I can not for the life of me figure out who this woman is, and yet, some of those mentioned I DO know, but they don't make sense to the relationships as outlined in the abstract. It is clear that she had family in Philadelphia from the following and appears to have died in England, but her will was registered in Penna as a result of the persons mentioned.. Sarah Portsmouth Logan's Suspected Will Abstract: The confusing relationships within it cause me to provide this abstract with a caveat preemptor, but it may in fact reveal a Quaker piousy relevant to all men as brothers and sister in the church. No children are mentioned, consistent with the deaths of this Sarah's children before her. Likewise, she is found a widow, also consistent. She names brothers as Thomas Fisher of Phila, [in fact her husbands biological brother] George Logan of Stanton, near Phila [ her brother in law]; Charles Logan, her "deceased brother of Virginia" [our direct and again Sarah's brother in law] and a variety of sisters I have not been able to identify beyond one who is in FACT her Sister in law , Deborah Logan. Other sisters may be biological sisters, or the wives of her brothers.

It would appear that she is mentioning siblingship to George and Charles LOGAN, sons of William Logan and Hannah Emlen but THAT sarah married Thomas Fisher who is mentioned here as a brother as well. Any ideas on this will would be greatly appreciated.
