Charles was born in 1846. He was the son of Charles Loggins and Sarah Self. He passed away in 1904.

Marriage and Children

Wesley Loggins and Martha Love were married in Blount County, Alabama, on February 28, 1866.[1]

According to the census records, Charles Wesley Loggins and his wife Martha had at least the following children:

  • Dan. H., b. ca. 1871
  • Quincy A., b. ca. 1873
  • Sam. J., b. 1875
  • Virgil H., b. November 1877

These children, although they have the last name Loggins, are children from Martha's earlier marriage to Wiley Franklin Love:

In 1860, Charles Loggins, a 53 year old farmer b. South Carolina, owned real propoert worth $100 and personal property worth $200. He lived with his wife Sarah, 46 b. Tennessee, and seven children b. Alabama: Elizabeth, 21; Major, 20; Rody, 16; Wesley, 13; Saml, 9; Elijah, 7; and Neely, 6. [3]

In 1870, Wesley Loggins, a 24 year old farmer, lived with his wife Martha, 30, and 4 children: Thomas, 11; Melinda, 8; Arvenia, 3; Dicy, 2. All were born in Alabama.[4]

In 1880, C. W. Loggins, a 34 year old farmer, lived with his wife Martha, 40, and 7 children: Lula A., 13; Dicie E., 11; Dan. H., 9; Quincy A., 7; Sam. J., 5; Virgil H., 2; and Martha J., 1m. All were born in Alabama.[5]

In 1900, Charles W. Loggins, a 54 year old farmer b. May 1846, lived on a farmer he rented with his wife Martha, 60 b. July 1840, and son Virgil H., 23, b. November 1877, a farm laborer. All were born in Alabama. Charles and Martha have been married for 34 years, and Martha has had 1 child, who is still living.[6]

Death and Burial

Charles Wesley Loggins died on Aug. 3, 1904, and is buried at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Locust Fork, Blount, Alabama, USA. [7] You can see a picture of his gravestone at Find A Grave.
