William Logsdon was born in about 1851 or 1852, perhaps early September, in Hart County, Kentucky. He was the son of George Webster ("Webb") Logsdon and Luvisa Tharp.[1]
Birth Date: This profile was originally created from the upload of an Ancestry Tree, which apparently provided a birth date of 7 Sep 1852, based on an unknown source. This conflicts with the birth date (20 Nov 1852) of William's sister, Emily, whose date is based on the birth register for Hart County. The 1860 census, which estimated his age as 8, would not conflict with this. William's birth year has, therefore, been changed to 1851 for this profile, to avoid the conflict with his sister's birth date. This change would seem to be supported (if the same individual is actually involved) by an obituary from Grenola, Kansas, which states that William T. Logsdon, b. 1 Sep 1851, Hart County, Kentucky, died in Grenola in 1921. The dates on the headstone, however, are 1852-1921.[2] If a source for his birth date can be located, it will be adjusted and/or footnoted.
Middle Initial: This profile originally gave a middle initial of "T" for William. Pending further research, the initial has been removed from the data field, since the sole source thus far located does not show it.
Death Date, Place: The data for this profile gave a date of death of 25 Jun 1929, which was actually the date of the death of his brother, Jordan Porter Logsdon. Since it is unlikely that they died on the same day, the year of death for William T. Logsdon in Grenola, Kansas has been used pending further research.
