Thomas Jefferson ("T.J.") Logsdon was born on 3 Feb 1815, near the town which later became Munfordville, in Hardin (after 1819, Hart) County, Kentucky.[1] He was the son of James Oliver Logsdon and Sallie Jones.

Thomas married Mary Ellen Spurling in about 1842, since their first child was born in abut 1843.[2][3][4] They had ten children, all of them born in Hart County:

  1. William L. Logsdon (b. 3 Jun1843)[5][6]
  2. Matilda Jane Logsdon (b. 26 Dec 1844)[7]
  3. Rosaltha Logsdon (b. ca. 1847)[8][9]
  4. James O. Logsdon (b. Feb 1849)[10]
  5. Joseph Enlowy Logsdon (b. 21 Jul 1852)[11]

In 1870, Thomas had a farm in Munfordville District valued at $1,500 and personal property valued at $400.[21]

Mary Ellen (Spurling) Logsdon died on 17 Jun 1873.[22]

Thomas remarried on 18 Mar 1875, in Hart County, Kentucky. His second wife was Martha Adiline Brashear.[23] Two children from his first marriage, Mary E. (age 20) and Tyra Hayden (age 18) were still living in his household in 1880.[24]

Thomas Jefferson Logsdon died on 9 Dec 1896, in Forestville, Hart County Kentucky. He was buried in the Logsdon Valley Cemetery, Hart County, Kentucky.[31]
