Biography

This profile is part of the Logsdon Name Study.

Everett Lee Logsdon was born on 11 Apr 1906, in Greenwood, Pleasant Township, Johnson County, Indiana. He was the son of James Edward Logsdon and Katie Irene Jaggers.[1]

After their marriage, his parents had moved north from Hart County, Kentucky to Pleasant Township in Johnson County, Indiana. By 1910, they were living in a rented house while his father supported the family as a farm laborer.[2] After a few years, they returned to Kentucky, where, by 1920, Everett's father was farming his own land in or near Munfordville in Hart County.[3]

Everett and Mary Catherine Sweeney applied for and were granted a marriage license on 1 Sep 1929, in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.[4] Their marriage was brief, ending in divorce in 1930, and they had no known children. By the time of the 1930 census, Everett was unemployed and had moved in with his parents in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.[5]

Everett remarried on 6 Aug 1935, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, with the ceremony performed by A. K. Wright, a Baptist minister. His second wife was Marie Bottger, the daughter of Ben Bottger and Ida Phillips.[6] After their marriage, Everett worked as a printer for a printing company while he and Marie lived with Marie's parents in a house they rented at 3613 Market Street in Louisville. Their son, Everett Lee Logsdon, Jr., was born in about 1936.[7]

Everett L. Logsdon died of a heart attack at the age of 44, on 2 Feb 1951, and was buried in the Wilkerson Temple Methodist Church Cemetery in Kessinger, Hart County, Kentucky.[8]
