Biography

LOMBARD, Joan Blake Of Scituate on May 24, 2009, at the age of 83. Joan was born March 25, 1926 and raised in Milton. She moved to Scituate in 1946 with her parents, Blake and Katherine Lombard. Joan graduated Thayer Academy and Bouve Boston School of Physical Education, receiving her bachelor's degree in physical education. Joan taught physical education at Cushing Academy where Bette Davis attended and Lee Remick was one of her pupils. Joan loved to travel as a Marine Corps' wife and lived all over the country for 20 years. Joan always considered Scituate her home and moved back in 1970, where she worked at Cards & Shards. Scrapbooking has always been a passion, and her life is chronicled forever in volumes of scrapbooks. She was a gifted photographer and was gifted at creating beautiful flower arrangements. Devoted mother of Carla (Svenson) Craig-Keane and her husband Steve of Midlothian, IL. Grandmother of Jennifer and Sarah, Step-Grandmother to Christopher and Great-Grandmother of Emily. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial Visitation will be on Saturday, May 30th from 9AM-11AM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., SCITUATE, followed by a Memorial Funeral Service at 11AM.
