Tracking the Cooney family in New York and New England, also going back to the UK
LOMBARDI
Trying to trace family in Calabria, Italy. Extremely difficult. Four brothers came here, but I can only go back 1 generation. Trying to locate lost cousins who may have more information.
MASSACHUSETTS
Family settled in Mass in the 1600's - from France. May be Huguenots. I'd love to know more.
OLLIVETTE
Ollivet, De Ollivette, Olivet This branch served in the Civil War, on the Union side. Supposedly about 5-7 of them died.
ROONEY
I know the Rooney's went from Ireland to England, and then to the US. They first went to Pennsylvania because they were miners. Then they moved to NY, and settled there.

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

PJ, Hi, and welcome to WikiTree. I'm the Coordinator for Massachusetts in the US History Project. If I can be of any help in tracking down any of your Colonial Massachusetts ancestors, let me know. If you have family going back to the 1600's, I think you'll find you have a lot more people in your tree than 300. Bob

I have over 300 ppl now in my family tree. It's gotten unwieldy! There's lots more ancestors to go, so if anyone has any ideas on how to tame this, I'd appreciate it!

Hi P.,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ludwig :)
