Baptised on Sept 2 1850 in St Georges Cathedral by Rev Camilleri, birthdate given as Oct 11 1841 and parents as Lambert and Rosa Lomberg, Coachman of Buitengracht; witnesses Lambert and Rosa Lomberg and John Harris.
Lambert and Rosa were not married until1849, 8 years after his birth.
Marriage certificate after banns to Rosa van der Bijl (Dec 1849) both signed by mark and witnessed by Wilhelmina Harris (signed by mark). Wilhelmina Harris was probably sister to John Harris (who married Rosa Lomberg).
A Lambert Lomberg, Episcopalian, buried 11 July 1906 in the Maitland cemetery in “Giddy” plot (no age given) was probably him.
Marriage certificate to Margaret Maria Johanna Turnbull dated Oct 26 1864 says age was 23, occupation coachman and residence Chiappini Street; witnessed by Saul Lomberg (brother aged 16?).
Voters list of 1882 lists him as foreman, ratepayer, of 16 Hudson St. list of 1902 lists him as cab proprietor of 1 Bruce St, CT.
Infer that Lambert was born before father’s marriage to Rosa van der Byl. 1
At baptism of his son with Emma, John Frederick Lomberg, in 1888 Lambert was listed as living at 20 Hudson St, Carrier. [14][15][16][17][18]
